11.08.08: Moscow CONTRAnight from Mumiy Troll.

The group
celebrated the release of the new double album «8» with an
unprecedented action: a giant MT truck cruised around the city for the whole
night and broadcasted a new Kontrabandi (Contrabands) clip. The video was shot
in the spring of 2008 with exactly the same technology in Antwerp
(Belgium), by Sweden director
Bjorn Tagemose.
Now,
European art-contraband, having passed state borders, appeared on the streets
of Moscow. The
result may be called a thousand names: from conceptual video installation and
mobile slide-show to anti-vandal graffiti. The action was taken under the
slogan of 100% contraband – without permission from state authorities.
The video
showed itself on Sail-house at Hodinskoe Pole, displaying a unique synthesis of
modern conceptual art: actual architecture, video clip and performance. DK
Gorbunova got under art-fire of the contraband ray not by chance. It's here where
10 years ago the double concert of Mumiy Troll took place. The Contrabands also
illuminated other famous buildings of the capital, such as Theater Estradi and Moscow State
University building. Here
the contraband art-performance was in risk of ending – local police wanted to
stop the «spread of the contraband» happening without permission. However,
finally they released the musicians, after making sure the action poses no
danger.
The truck
went to the next destination point, projecting Contrabands to buildings fronts.
The 8-meter image of Ilya Lagutenko kept making impressed passer-bys stop in
amusement.
Near the
Theater Estradi building, located on the bank of Moscow-river, the musicians
decided their next plans include a river rafting to the Black
sea and spread of art-contraband in other cities and countries. Meanwhile,
one can join the «illegal» art via buying the new «8» album
in any music shop of the country – from the 8th of August it can be bought
totally legally.
